Trip Includes

  • 3 boat dives each day, plus optional evening/night dive off the dock
  • Accommodations, meals, tanks, and weights
  • Double occupancy in 8 cabins, each with a private bath

Trip Excludes

  • Transportation to Port Hardy, tips, gear, nitrox 
  • Trip cancellation and dive insurance
  • If someone wants their own room, there is a 20% surcharge (subject to availability) 
  • Beer, wine, soda, snacks, etc.

Notes: 

  1. For those who are Gluten Free or Lactose Intolerant, please bring with you a substitute for diary and gluten for your snacks and bread (if desired)

Schedule

  1. Sunday May 6, 2017 at 4 pm: arrive at Seagate Gov’t wharf at the foot of Granville Street in Port Hardy for pick up. Dinner is provided at God's Pocket Resort.
  2. May 7 - 11 (5 days): 3 boat dives per day + optional twilight/night dive off the dock (except the last day).
  3. Saturday May 12, 2017: Continental breakfast then drop off at dock at 9 am. Start drive home. We leave God'd Pocket around 8 am, get to Port Hardy around 8:45 am, and are on the road between 9:00 - 9:10 am. The would put us at Duke Point a little after 2 pm (ferry check in is between 2:15 - 2:45 pm).

Travel

  1. Take a ferry from either Tsawwassen, Horseshoe Bay, or Port Angeles to get to Vancouver Island.
  2. The town of Port Hardy is a 4-5 hour drive from Nanaimo.
  3. Some of us plan to drive to Nanaimo on Saturday, then drive to Port Hardy on Sunday morning, stopping at the store to get supplies (beer, wine, soda, and/or snacks if desired).
  4. The 10 mile (16.1 km.), ~ 45 minute, boat ride through the wilds of Queen Charlotte Strait – from Port Hardy to God's Pocket Resort on Hurst Island – is included in your diving package.

Pick-up Location

  • The pick up and drop off location will be at the Seagate Gov’t wharf at the foot of Granville Street in Port Hardy at 4pm.
  • There is plenty of free parking for your time at God’s Pocket.
  • On the drop off day, we will return to this same dock before 9am.
  • If you need to provision for your stay, there is a well stocked liquor store, grocery store and gas station all within a few blocks of the dock.

What to bring

1.  Certification cards and log book.

2.  All personal dive gear.  We will supply steel 85 cubic foot cylinders and weights.  These tanks are low pressure steel tanks (2640 psi).  If you want a larger tank you are welcome to bring your own.  Please let us know ahead of time.  You are fine to bring your own belts and weights.

3.  Alcohol and snack food.  We supply juice, hot liquids as well as cookies/muffins for in between meals.  If you like sodas or nuts/chips/chocolate bars and such, you will need to bring them.

4.  Sunglasses and sun block, hiking boots, rain jacket and warm clothing.

5.  Head lamp or small flashlight for evening or early morning.

6.  We supply all towels and linens.  We also have soap in a pump dispenser.  If you prefer bar soap you will need to bring your own.

7.  Shampoo/conditioner.

8.  All toiletries.

9.  Camera.

10.  Spare dive gear.  We have a limited save-a-dive kit.  It's best for you to pack spare parts rather than counting on us to have these for you.  Things like neoprene glue, aqua seal.  If your suit has latex seals, extra seals is a good idea.

  • Transfers to and from God’s Pocket on the predetermined “Pickup and Drop off” dates and times.

  • Nitrox- $.14 per cu/ft

  • Telephone - $1 per minute for both incoming and outgoing calls

  • Wifi – Limited to Text Only! Available one hour per day. No Facebook, video of any kind, uploading  downloading,  instagram, add $10 for your stay.

  • Any gift Shop Items.

  • Any lost lead, add $10 per pound.

  • With appropriate notice, we have one 130 cu ft. tank for a rental fee of $20 per day plus taxes.

  • Transfers to and from God's Pocket other than predetermined Pick up and Drop off days" $300 in "Hurst Isle", $150 in "Bossy", $450 for Water Taxi.

Dining & Food

Three meals a day are provided along with loads of snacks and hot and cold beverages. All meals are creative and delicious as well as plentiful.  They are served family style with lots of love.  

Given our limited selection in town, along with our ‘barely adequate’ kitchen facility, we ask of those with special dietary needs to:

a.    Let us know in advance on the questionnaire

b.    For those who are Gluten Free or Lactose intolerant /No Dairy, please bring with you a substitute for dairy and Gluten for your snacks and bread (if desired) 

c.     *Our kitchen is not set up to accommodate anyone with Celiac disease*

There is also a ‘boat box’ that goes on every dive to provide you with hot and cold drinks and snacks in between dives.

 

PLEASE NOTE: We do not provide sodas, alcohol or ‘junk’ food. These can be purchased in Port Hardy and you are welcome to bring your own.
