  • FAQ

Heart of biodiversity in the Coral Triangle

Raja Ampat, a breathtaking archipelago of 1,500+ islands, is home to thousands of species, many found nowhere else. It has over 75% of the world’s total hard coral species.

The resort’s private water bungalows, just 10-15 minutes from top dive sites, offer water access and outdoor seating amid rainforest breezes and tropical birdsong.

Wobbegong sharks, vibrant healthy coral and abundant marine life!

Savor fresh cuisine and sunsets, or relax between dives, at the overwater restaurant.

Witness the mesmerizing mating dance of the endemic Red Bird of Paradise after a rainforest hike.

A dream destination for divers and nature lovers!

The boat ride from Sorong took 1 hr 40 min, and ~ 2 hours to return (partly because we spent about a half hour watching a large pod of dolphins juming out of the water).

Non-diving activities include bird-watching, island tours, jungle-trekking, village visits, kayaking, paddle boarding, and more.

Price is 20% of 2024 retail!

Other Activities

The Raja Ampat islands are amongst the rarest natural beauties in the world. Mushroom islands and the depth of green melting into the bright blue of the sea will make you feel like you’re on Pandora in James Cameron’s Avatar. Excursions to the mushroom islands are highly recommended.

If you're interested in bird watching, then your stay in Papua Explorers will be a very satisfactory one. We wake up to the amazing sounds of the tropical birds. Flocks of parrots can be observed during the day. Red Bird of Paradise is resident at the neighboring bay.

You may also discover the surroundings of our resort using one of our kayaks or paddle boards.

Photography is not limited to underwater. Tropic birds, bats and butterflies, and other interesting rainforest creatures can be observed on our island, as well as wild orchids and endemic black orchids. If you are interested in photographing the Red Bird of Paradise, it is advisable to bring a tripod and telephoto lens with you. Should you be interested in visiting the neighboring village, be prepared to capture portraits of beautiful Papuan children.

They say the boat ride to the resort can take 2-3 hours, but it only took us 1 h 40 min to get there and 2 hr to return (because we watched dolphins for 30 min). The scheduled transfer is at noon, so we'd arrive at the resort between 2 - 4 pm.

  • The transfer out is at 6 am.

  • You'll likely take an international flight to Jakarta (CGK) or Bali (DPS) then a doemstic flight to Sorong (SOQ), e.g., on Garuda Indonesia. There are more direct flights out of Jakarta.
