South Red Sea Liveaboard

With awesome visibility and breath-taking soft corals, the Red Sea is a bucket-list scuba diving destination. There are over 1000 species of fish in the Red Sea, 20% of which are found nowhere else in the world. The vibrant corals and abundant fish create a truly magical kaleidoscope of color. The Red Sea is also home to pelagics like reef sharks, hammerheads, threshers, dolphins, blue-spotted rays, and manta rays. Plus seahorses, frogfish, and nudibranchs.

The fall is a good time of year to go. We'll avoid the heat of mid-summer and the water will be warm.

This is the Brothers / Daedalus / Ephinstone route.

The price is $1,000 off retail for Fin Lifers!

Aggressor 'Know Before You Go' https://www.aggressor.com/kbyg_document/RedSea-South

Diving

Dives/day: Up to 3-5 dives per day, 20-23 per trip.

Nitrox: Unlimited Nitrox is $100 per week.

Expected water temp: Usually averages 82 - 83°F

Expected viz: 50-130+ feet*

As a general rule, the visibility is good in Egypt, rarely dropping below 65'.

When microscopic creatures such as plankton are in the water it can reduce vis, but these often bring in filter feeders like manta rays and whale sharks, so poor visibility can actually be a blessing in disguise.

Depending on the dive site, the visibility in Egypt can be exceptional hitting 130 ft or more.

Tanks, weights: 80 cubic ft. tanks, weight belts, and weights are provided.

Other gear: Available for rent

Dive guides: While in the water, you and your buddy are in charge.  Every dive starts with a dive briefing from the yacht staff. On some dive sites a staff member will offer to lead a group and assist them in locating specific points of interest.   However, the yacht does not offer direct supervision of dives.

Expected diving: While onboard, you may pick a buddy of your choice, or dive with one of the crewmembers.  Some divers are made from the 10-passenger dive skiff, some from the back of the boat.

Nearest hyperbaric chamber: Marsa Shagra which is 40 kilometers/24 miles from Port Ghalib and 20 kilometers/12 miles north of Marsa Alam

Yacht

We suggest you purchase your favorite liquor (s) from the duty-free shop at the airport prior to departing to Egypt. D

Logistics

Airport: HRG Hurghada, Egypt

Flights: NOT INCLUDED.

Getting here, Friday Sept 20 recommended

  • "We recommend guests arrive in Egypt prior to the start day of the charter. Once guests are onboard and the yacht is given clearance to leave the port by the local authorities, no one can board the yacht after this time or deliver any lost luggage. We recommend you prepare for this if you are scheduled to fly in the day of the charter by packing a mask, fins, swimsuit, change of clothes, medication and toiletries in your carry-on bag. Having these few items with you can make an unexpected luggage more bearable."
  • It is recommended that one flies into Hurghada (HRG) 1-2 days before boarding, get over jet lag (10 h difference), and make sure all bags arrive. With advance notice we can have Aggressor arrange the 3 hour ground transport directly to the boat arriving at the 3pm boarding time Saturday. Hurghada is a safe, clean coastal city, comparable to those in the Caribbean (like Cozumel).
  • Transportation between HRG and Port Ghalib (through Aggressor) is $69 for groups of 2+ people, and $143 for a single traveler.
  • Alternatively, one can fly into RMF, (Marsa Alam), which is 10-15 min from Port Ghalib, but this isn't recommended.

Boarding, Saturday Sept 21

  • Arrival Marsa Alam or Hurghada, boarding from 3:00 pm. (Guests may board any time after 3 pm as the boat departs the dock Sunday at approximately 6 am.)

Friday Sept 27

  • The Red Sea Aggressor III returns to Port Ghalib Friday afternoon between 2 – 4 pm. A sunset cocktail party will be held then guests may go ashore for dinner at one of the many restaurants at Port Ghalib. Dinner Friday night is the only meal not provided with the cruise. After the Red Sea Aggressor returns to port guests may also visit Port Ghalib for shopping and nightlife.

Departure, Saturday Sept 28

  • Check out: 8 am Saturday morning. Estimated arrival to Hurghada International Airport is 12 pm.
